The FusePoint RSS Feed Viewer web part integrates external RSS/JSON feeds into SharePoint with complete control over content mapping and display formatting. It supports both XML and JSON formats while offering flexible template customization.
Recent updates introduce per-source titles and layout controls plus validation and clearer error messages for unsupported or unreachable feeds, making configuration more transparent for admins.
Features
Dual Format Support: Works with both XML and JSON feed formats
Custom Property Mapping: Adapts to different feed structures
Template Engine: Full HTML customization with placeholder tags
Content Control: Limit posts globally or per source and configure sorting
Multi-Source Layout (NEW): Configure several feeds inside one web part with per-source titles, title color/size, and spacing between sources
Default Styling: Ready-to-use card layout included
HTML Rendering: Supports raw HTML content display
Error Handling (NEW):
Invalid or unreachable feeds now show a "Failed to fetch" message.
Feeds blocked by CORS or other connection issues will be flagged.
In the Manage Data panel, invalid feeds are highlighted with a red "No data in your collection" message and an emphasized info icon.
The Save button remains available (due to a limitation in the PnP CollectionData control), but invalid feeds are not stored.
How to Use
Adding the Web Part
Edit your SharePoint page
Select "Add a Web Part" from the ribbon
Choose FusePoint RSS Feed Viewer from the gallery
Position it in your preferred location
Configuring a Feed
Enter the feed URL and select format (XML/JSON)
Map feed properties to display fields
Set display limits and sort order
Apply default styling or enter a custom HTML template
Save to load and display the feed
If a feed fails, the message "Failed to fetch" will appear, helping you identify the issue.
Configuring Multiple Sources in One Web Part (NEW)
Add each source in the Manage Data grid and use the Title column to label every feed.
Use the Title size, Title color, and Gap between sources options to keep each feed visually separated within a single web part.
Choose how to limit results: set a global maximum for all sources combined or a per-source maximum so every feed shows a specific number of items.
You can still add the same web part multiple times on a page; each instance keeps its own titles and styling.
Balanced Visibility: Per-source limits prevent one feed from crowding out others
Reduced Development: No need for custom solutions for most feeds
Conclusion
The FusePoint RSS Feed Viewer web part transforms SharePoint into a powerful content aggregation platform.
With dual feed support, per-source titles/layout controls, custom templates, and improved error handling, it enables organizations to seamlessly integrate external data sources while clearly flagging configuration or source issues.
